about us: The mission of Beaver Food Forest is to combine agriculture and ecological restoration toward increased community and watershed resilience. In addition to produce grown using organic practices, Beaver Food Forest grows plant materials for ecological restoration, such as native riparian plants for stream and wetland restoration, and specialty gourds and willow for use in constructing natural floating wetlands. The native riparian plants are grown in potting media free of peat moss, coconut coir, vermiculite, and perlite. Why skip the peat moss? Peat is mined from wetlands, and in places where peatlands are intact, water is stored on the landscape for longer. Beaver Food Forest potting media keeps peat in the ground, instead using primary components like local BCS Livestock compost, ‘Pittmoss’ recycled paper fiber, sheep wool, shredded wood, and biochar (all sourced in the United States). Take a virtual farm tour to find out more about the innovative ways Beaver Food Forest dovetails agriculture and restoration.
where to find our products: Products are available at the roadside farmstand (dawn to dusk most days during the growing season), often at Glover Street Market, at local restaurants, or at the onsite nursery (by appointment). TwisPasta is also available through the Methow Valley FoodShed and at restaurants in the area.
